Fractional CTO

Fractional leadership provides ongoing senior guidance at a lower weekly commitment than an interim seat. It suits businesses that already have engineering leadership in the building but need a more experienced hand on strategy, architecture decisions, or board-level technology conversations on a regular cadence.

My background is senior technology leadership across financial services and SaaS, from start-up through FTSE 250, in regulated as well as unregulated environments. That range means the fractional time is spent on judgement calls rather than getting oriented.

A fractional engagement typically runs as a set number of days a month, with direct access in between for anything that cannot wait for the next session. It works well alongside an existing engineering or product leadership team that needs a sounding board and occasional direct intervention, not a replacement.

The practical side of the role draws on the Cambridge Judge Business School CTO Programme, the Imperial College Professional Certificate in AI and Machine Learning, and ongoing work applying agentic workflows and AI-augmented engineering. Engagements run as advisory, fractional or hands-on work, London hybrid or UK remote.

This suits regulated and unregulated businesses alike: financial services and SaaS organisations moving from start-up towards larger scale, where the technology function is maturing faster than the rest of the business can comfortably absorb.
